About the Artist

My lifelong artistic journey has been intertwined with a profound love for the natural world and my brave entrepreneurial spirit. My artistic creations in both fused glass and sketch art offer viewers a vivid and textured glimpse into the beauty of landscapes, gardens, and the animal kingdom that inspires me every day.

I was influenced by a variety of creative people throughout my childhood. My neighbor, Mrs. Stam, took me under her wing and taught me techniques in watercolor, pen and Ink, and other creative medias. After school, I frequently watched TV shows like Reading Rainbow hosted by LeVar Burton, and The Joy of Painting hosted by Bob Ross where I was glued to live art demonstrations. My love of the arts grew further when I saw works of art from artists like Van Gogh, Monet, and Michael Parks.

Many family members have told me that my artistic prowess was evident from a very early age. Some said I was obsessed with various artistic mediums, which led to the creation of exceptional works of art as a small child. By the time I was a teenager, I began competing in adult art shows and earned recognition as an award-winning sketch artist. My journey as an artist continued to evolve through lived experiences and my unwavering search for new ways to express my creativity.

In 2006 I co-founded This Place Blows (TPB), a working art glass studio, with a talented glass artist who encouraged me to learn the fused glass craft. After a few years, TPB became an icon for the glass art world and a popular destination for glass art lovers visiting the Alberta Art District in Portland, OR. It was at this place and time that I fell head over heals in love with fusing glass, but life happened and I turned my focus to my corporate career in 2008 and put away my glass tools.

After 15 years away from creating glass, I suddenly had an opportunity to turn my garage into a creative space and return to doing what I loved. With the help of my husband, I launched the Lucky Starz Studio in 2023, where I now fuse glass full-time and make my artistic visions a reality.

I believe that art possesses the unique ability to inspire, heal, and deeply connect people, and that creativity is within us all. It’s the thread that binds our experiences to the world around us.
